Find your Xanadu with Twenty10

Xanadu, the 1980 camp classic responsible for cementing Olivia Newton-John’s status as a gay icon, will come to life once more on November 19 for a special Twenty10 fundraising event.

The ‘magical queer fundraiser’ will take place from 8pm at the Red Rattler Theatre, 8 Faversham St Marrickville.

As Our Livvy sang on the film’s huge-selling soundtrack, “We have to believe we are magic, nothing can stand in our way” — and nothing will stand in the way of a great night’s Xanadu-themed entertainment.

Performers for the night include a bevy of drag queens and divas: Glitter Supernova, Xavier Moustache, Jade Starr, Zoofi, Leo D’Lush, Sister Muscle Mary and Barry. DJs Matt Vaughan and Huckleberry Spin will no doubt drop a few ELO gems, accompanied by lush video projections from Stainless.

And to put the finishing touches to the Xanadu theme, Gogo Bears and roller skating Derby Grrls will perform for the crowd.

The night is a strictly over-18s event for supporters of Twenty10 and the work it does with young people, communities and families of diverse genders and sexualities. Money raised will help support Twenty10’s busy drop-in centre in Newtown.
