Labor to form minority government

Labor to form minority government

>Rob Oakeshott and Tony Windsor will support the Labor Party.
The Labor Party is now set to form a minority Government in the House of Representatives with 76 seats to the Coalition’s 74.
Windsor nominated Labor’s broadband plans “too good an opportunity to miss,” and climate change as the issues that helped form his decision.
After a lengthy explanation, Oakeshott also announced he would side with Labor to help form Government.
North Queensland independent Bob Katter earlier today indicated he would back the Coalition.

On the ABC’s Q&A program last night, Katter dodged attempts to answer questions on remarks he made in the past denying the existence of gay people in his electorate.

  1. A conscience vote is needed on this issue!

It will free up our supporters in both parties – Albanese, Turnbull Plibersek Danby and Entsch to vote for same-sex marriage.

And no doubt a majority of others too.

  2. Good on Independant Andrew Wilkie for adding equal marriage to his list of demands!!
Now the Labor-Greens coalition (as it’s been referred to) has won, lets move forward on marriage equality!

The Greens had to lay low the last couple of days as some newspapers launched a massive scare campaign against gay marriage to “scare” the last 3 independants to side with Liberal.

Thankfully that didn’t work, and the new parliament can move forward with granting marriage equality as per the wishes of 60% of the general Australian straight population.
Let’s hope this is lesson learnt, for people like Anthony Albanese who almost lost his seat & is certain to next election unless he embraces equal marriage. Anthony- it’s nnot just gays voting for social justice equality issues- but also thier friends, relatives, and fair minded people that no longer wish to see the Howard/Latham 2004 Marriage Ban continue any longer.

  3. The mad katter is off his rocker. The rant on Q and A when gay issues were brought up show what a vile poisonous homophobe he truely is.Good riddance to bad rubbish.
