Police Gay and Lesbian Liaison Officers and Surry Hills Commander Donna Adney will join the community to see The Laramie Project tonight.

The play by Moises Kaufman is being re-run to coincide with the arrival of its original creators and with the 10th anniversary of the tragic hate crime murder of Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming.
The officers were invited in recognition of their efforts to deal with Sydney’s own anti-gay attacks and improve relations between police and the GLBT community.

Sydney has been forced to confront its own hatred this year following several high-profile attacks against members of the gay community, and I hope that this play will be another step in the right direction, director Christopher Hay said.
