Putting their trust in Rent

A Sydney-based company Penny Presents has put together a production of the hit musical Rent.
The musical, written and composed by Jonathan Larson, is set in Greenwich Village, New York City, and is about being young and learning what to do to survive in the world.
Rent features tales of falling in love and finding your voice. It delves deep into the minds of a group of young people finding their way in life, the meaning of existence and making the most of what they have.
The show won the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize and has left a lasting mark on Broadway with its catchy music and moving storyline.
The new local production is a fundraiser for the AIDS Trust of Australia and is directed by Jacqui Maynard and choreographed by Lauren Jenkins.
It will open at the Tom Mann Theatre in Surry Hills on Friday 12 October and will play until Saturday 20 October.
Tickets are $40 for adults and $35 for seniors and concessions and can be purchased from www.pennypresents.org or call 0411 461 187.
