CoastOut one month away

It’s one month until the CoastOut festival, and organiser Todd Buttery said people thinking of heading to Coffs Harbour for the three-day GLBTI event, from October 29-31, should start organising the finer details of their trip now.

“If people are thinking they might enter into the surf comp or the ocean swim, now’s definitely the time to register for those,” he told Southern Star Observer.

Buttery also stressed that the earlybird three-day pass offer, a single $169 ticket that covers entry to the Welcome Cocktail Party, Fair Day, Tea Dance, CoastOut Bus Circuit, Barefoot Bowls, Drag Out the Dolphins show and CoastOut Beach Party, ends on October 1.

“On that day, we’ll draw the winners of the three-night accommodation package and the three-day Audi convertible car hire prizes. Any three-day passes purchased by October 1 will go into the draw to win those.”

Buttery said he’d fielded many requests about accommodation availability. He recommended people visit www.coffscoast.com.au or call 1300 369 070 for accommodation queries.

As preparations for the event enter their final weeks, new names are still being added to the line-up. Popular Sydney drag queen Prada Clutch is a late addition to the beach party bill. She’ll join queer favourites like Bob Downe, Tania Doko, Joyce Maynge, Luke Gallagher and Dolly Diamond, all of whom are performing across the weekend.

There are still places open for prospective stallholders interested in taking part on Fair Day. Email [email protected] for more details.

Buttery said he was feeling excited that his vision for a GLBTI-focused festival in his hometown was finally taking shape.

“Ticket sales are going well. The positive energy in town is great — everyone’s really behind it.

“This town is ready for an event like CoastOut.”
