Red Rattler rocks on
The Red Rattler, Marrickville’s eclectic performance space, has been nominated for Best Collective as part of the 2009 FBi/Time Out Sydney Music Arts and Culture Awards.
Founded by a group of queer-identifying women as a reaction to authorities shutting down illegal warehouse parties, the Rattler hosts a number of GLBT events during the year, with a distinctly underground flavour.
The Rattler collective is urging fans to go online and vote for them as a ‘thank you’ for the work of the many volunteers, artists and organisers who have given up their time to make the venue a success.
The Rattler is also hosting its first New Year’s Eve party this year, with a line-up described as “heaving with electro feminists and politically charged performance”, with Le Tigre’s JD Samson adding international star power.
