Stott Despoja joins beyondblue leadership

NatashaGay rights advocate and former senator Natasha Stott Despoja has taken up the deputy chair of mental health body beyondblue.

Stott Despoja joined the board in 2008 after more than a decade in federal politics as the South Australian senator and former leader of the Australian Democrats.

She joins Western Australian under treasurer Tim Marney as the other beyondblue deputy.

The organisation’s chair Jeff Kennett said he respected the work she had done as a board member.

“She has done a tremendous job using her extensive network throughout the community to help us deliver beyondblue’s messages,” he said.

“Her elevation by the board to the position of deputy chair means we have a very strong leadership group at beyondblue.”

Stott Despoja is also an ENUF ambassador, raising awareness around stigma and discrimination for people living with HIV.
