Suspect still a free man
The only man charged over the bashing of Blacktown couple Greg Harland and Aaron Warnecke is still a free man following a bail hearing at Blacktown Local Court.
A 21-year-old Lalor Park man appeared before Magistrate Dr Roger Brown last month charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, affray and possession of an offensive implement.
The alleged attacker was granted bail and will make another court appearance next year.
Blacktown Police told Sydney Star Observer on Friday that the officer assigned to the case had recently returned from a period of leave, but that the investigation into the identity of the persons involved in the attack was continuing.
Police have previously expressed an interest in two local men aged 19 and 27.
