THE MOST INCREDIBLE THING – PET SHOP BOYS

Never ones to shy away from a niche side project — they previously created a soundtrack to the historic silent film Battleship Potemkin — queer pop legends the Pet Shop Boys now release the score for their first-ever ballet, The Most Incredible Thing.

Frontman Neil Tennant’s vocals are conspicuously absent across this two-disc collection, which will be a barrier for casual fans. But those who enjoy the pomp, melodrama and sheer campness of the Boys’ best material should find much to love here — even if the lush orchestral soundscapes are just crying out for a sardonic Tennant vocal.
