Trans woman makes history as as winner of Holland’s Next Top Model

FOR the first since the international Next Top Model series was launched in the US in 2003, the reality TV franchise has crowned its trans woman as its winner.

The landmark achievement occurred in the The Netherlands’ instalment of the series this week, with 20-year-old hairdresser and makeup artist Loiza Lamers winning the eighth season of Holland’s Next Top Model.

Lamers is not the first trans* contestant on the show. In the 11th season of the original US version 30-year-old Isis King was a contestant and has since appeared in magazines like Seventeen, Out and Teen Vogue talking about trans* models.
