Hello from the Inner City Legal Centre, your specialist legal centre providing free information, advice and representation to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex communities across NSW.

In between building our Queer Court and preparing for the Mardi Gras festivities, we have continued with our law reform work and commitment to providing quality legal assistance.

The Inner City Legal Centre is working in conjunction with New Mardi Gras on Project Blue, a campaign that aims to inform our communities about legal rights with respect to drug possession, sniffer dogs, police searches and related criminal law issues.

As part of Project Blue, ICLC will be at the Harbour Party, in the parade and at the after-party. Leading up to Mardi Gras, we will provide two free legal information sessions. Come along, not only for your own information, but also so you can assist friends who find themselves in a tricky situation.

The sessions will take place on Thursday, February 24 at 6pm upstairs at the Colombian and Tuesday, March 1 at 6pm at Twenty10 in Bedford St, Newtown. We will have a criminal lawyer there to field tricky questions. Visit www.ICLC.org.au to see our fact sheet on drugs, police powers and sniffer dogs.

Look for our stand at the Mardi Gras after-party and at the Harbour party. We will be loitering right near the police. If you are searched or find yourself in trouble with the police, come and talk to us. We will get your details so we can book you in for a free advice session with a lawyer. After Mardi Gras, you can also call us on 02 9332 1966.

You can help make our parade entry bigger and brighter simply by buying your ticket to the Mardi Gras party. When you buy your ticket, enter our PETS code GENIE and $10 of your ticket price will be donated directly to our float. We must have 20 tickets or more to get any money and it doesn’t cost you anything extra, so please support us.
