Northern temptations

Mardi Gras mayhem has subsided for another year. Even here in the Northern Rivers we get caught up, with locals travelling to the Big Smoke to participate in the parade (what a blast that is -” do it at least once in your lifetime!) and to rove at the parties.
ACON Rovers look out for partygoers who may be experiencing difficulties due to alcohol or drug use. Rovers act as the eyes and ears of first aid and provide a friendly face for people to ask party-related questions.
Roving is a unique opportunity to -˜serve’ your community while having fun. Rovers are comprehensively trained and if you are interested in volunteering for this program in the Northern Rivers contact Sioux on 6622 1555.
Over the next month in Northern Rivers there is something to tempt all members of our community.
Genesis is a workshop program offered through collaboration between ACON and Positive Life NSW that is designed for gay men who have been diagnosed with HIV within the last two years, or those who wish to move forward after their diagnosis (however long that may be). We hope to host this workshop in May so if you are interested contact Neil on 6622 1555.

A regular meeting of same-sex attracted women is held at ACON in Lismore every second Wednesday of the month from 5.30pm. Women meet to discuss health, relationships and participate in social activities. Ring Amber on 6622 1555 for details.
We are also seeking expressions of interest in starting a monthly book club for GLBT community members and queer-friendly folk who like to read. Ring Sioux on 6622 1555 to register.
