Last Supper at MCC

The Metropolitan Community Church of Sydney, a church with a specific outreach to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people and their families, will hold its traditional Last Supper on Thursday, April 21.

The annual Easter event is designed to ‘bring people of goodwill together to be fed spiritually while being fed a delicious three-course meal’.

“Holy Thursday is the day Christians mark the Last Supper, when Jesus gathered his friends around him to share a meal,” event organiser Sarah de Rooy said.

“But our gathering is for all people, regardless of their religious or spiritual backgrounds. Anyone who is interested is welcome.”

Guest speaker for the 2011 event is Twenty10 managing director Rebecca Reynolds, who will speak about her passion for fighting for the rights of young GLBTQ people.

The dinner, this year sponsored by Stanmore’s Molly Coddle Cafe, will take place from 7pm, at Club Five Dock, 66 Great North Rd, Five Dock.

A gourmet three-course meal is on offer, with vegetarians and others with special needs catered for. Popular cabaret artist J Bear will provide a musical interlude between courses. Tickets cost $50 per person, but for an optional extra $10 you can support someone on a low income being able to attend.

info: Bookings can be made to [email protected] or call Lee on 02 9743 0121 or 0413 048 848. RSVP by April 17, and cash payments may be made on Sunday after service to either Lee or Sarah.
