STI check – Gonorrhoea when HIV negative
Gonorrhoea is a bacterial infection that lives in the dick, arse or throat.
In 2010, rates of gonorrhoea in Sydney gay men are high and increasing. There are things you can do to protect yourself and your sexual partners, such as:
• Always wear a condom when having anal sex with casual partners.
• Avoid contact with any unusual discharge from the dick.
• If you are told you may have been in contact with someone with gonorrhoea, go to your GP or local Sexual Health Clinic and get tested and treated.
• It is strongly recommended that you don’t have sex until you have got the ‘all clear’, as you may infect others or get re-infected while on treatment.
