Riewoldt scandal privacy warning
The Anti-Violence Project has cautioned members of the GLBT community to be vigilant of personal privacy when photographs are taken in settings that can’t be controlled.
The warning follows a nude photo scandal involving three players from St Kilda Football Club, after compromising images of the football stars were posted on Facebook by a 17-year-old school girl.
St Kilda players Nick Riewoldt, Zac Dawson and Nick Dal Santo were shown in explicit photos that went viral via email and social networking sites yesterday.
Yesterday afternoon the Federal Court issued an order to stop the girl and Facebook publishing any more photos.
The 17-year-old told The Age her motivation in posting the photos on her Facebook pages was an act of revenge.
She has previously claimed she became pregnant to an AFL star after meeting players after a match. The claims have been investigated by police.
In a press conference this morning Riewoldt confirmed the images were taken 12 months ago on a trip in Miami by fellow teammate Sam Gilbert.
He said he thought the images had been deleted. The girl is also claiming she took the images.
Anti Violence Project Victoria convenor Greg Adkins told the Star Observer the incident serves as a warning for people to be careful when in group settings or when posing for photos.
“It’s important to realise that as an individual you have the right to say no to photos and for them not to be not to be shown any further,” Adkins said.
“When in a group setting … you have to realise that people you’re having fun with might not be there for the same reason as you, if they’re not a close friend.”
Adkins said cyber safety was an ongoing problem for the GLBT community when using online dating sites or meeting people in bars.
“You see a name, or face, or a tag but you don’t know anything about these people,” he cautioned.
“Then if you give them access to your house and you don’t know who they are, you don’t know people’s motivations, they might be casing the place to return and rob you.
“It’s important to be aware of your safety in these cases.”
Age of consent is 16. They’ve done nothing wrong. If u had a stream of young men constantly wanting to sleep with you, I wonder how many of you would be able to say no after the hundreth time of being hit on by good looking young guys.
Deflecting the issue to be some kind of homo erotic episode is just silly. Straight men DO sleep naked with other men and there is nothing gay about it. People are viewing the situation thru their own eyes and not that of straight men.
The gay community should take this article for what it is intended – be careful with your pics because there are pricks out there. As these football players have found out.

Yes she has problems; but who can say they don’t either? What were her parents doing letting this YET TO BE ADULT female out and about with hunky horny guys at a ‘show-all-place’?
Was she ever abused in any way as a child or bullied at school or called ‘slut’? We will never know unless it comes out in Court. She for sure needs her folks to get her back on-line and not drop over the edge!

I can not see what Nick’s so upset about. It’s not as if he is doing something inappropriate and being caught on film, like Dal Santo ( please Dal Santo put it away it a crime to expose that to the world!!!) And Riewoldt definitely has nothing to be ashamed about!! ;-)

Which does bring up the question of, as Nick says these pics were taken on a break in Miami, why are these three guys getting around a motel room together Naked , Semi Naked and hands Full, at the same time and taking pics of it all, Is there more to this little triss then meets the eye or being told?????
