Kenyan official blames tourists for gay lions

A Kenyan official has blamed the gay lions spotted having sex in a national park on “badly behaved” gay tourists.

Ezekiel Mutau, head of the Kenyan Film Classification Board and the nation’s “moral policeman”, said the lions were copying gay tourists, according to The Sun.

He said the only other explanation for the animals’ behaviour was demons.

Mutau called for the lions to be separated and to receive counselling to cure them of being gay.

“These animals need counselling, because probably they have been influenced by gays who have gone to the national parks and behaved badly,” he said.

“I don’t know, they must have copied it from somewhere or it is demonic. Because these animals do not watch movies.

“Some research needs to be done. And also I wish I [could confirm] the two animals are actually male, because it is not normal.

“I mean where on earth have you ever heard something like this happening. The demonic spirits inflicting in humans seems to have now caught up with the animals.”

Mutua took to Twitter to comment on the lions, posting, “If our lions begin this homosexual behaviour then that will surely be the end of the animal species.”

Most responses to the tweet seemed amused.

“Don’t worry sweetheart, plenty of procreation around,” tweeted one person.

“You out to control wild animals as well brother? Your mandate has been extended to cover the wild?,” wrote another.

Many animals have of course been observed to have gay sex, including lions, dolphins and penguins.

Kenya has harsh laws against LGBTI people, with gay sex punishable by imprisonment, and even gay characters on television illegal.

  1. The man’s a complete buffoon. I’ve witnessed first-hand two male giraffes in an African game reserve doing the wild thing. Perhaps it was due to my merely being there.
