Milk Annual – Caitlin Park

Milk Annual – Caitlin Park

Caitlin Park’s lush, low-key stunning debut album Milk Annual signifies the arrival of a major Australian talent. Whether she’s too understated for the mainstream remains to be seen, but with songs as beguiling as those found on Milk Annual, this ‘folktronic’ artist should find her niche.

The Sydneysider mixes abstract composition, electro-acoustic stylings and snatches of film nostalgia. The sound is a mixture of spoken word samples, swooping, circular rhythms, nimble guitar-plucking and Park’s low, confident voice. If that sounds messy on paper, it’s to Park’s credit that she’s woven it into one cohesive whole.
