DJ Mark Murphy

DJ Mark Murphy reveals his top five favourite dance tracks at the moment. He’ll be a busy boy this long weekend, playing at both The Misfits and Super Fag Tag on Saturday 10 June.

He also played at the recent Inquisition party, Mardi Gras, Sleaze, Field Day and Big Day Out.

WATERS OF NAZARETH PART 2

Justice

This is just plain mayhem. I’d even call this today’s rave music. The French are really hitting the mark at the moment and pushing the boundaries of electro and coming up with tasty shit like this. All mixes on this are pretty sound with the best being Justice’s own remix and Erol Alkan’s.

MOUSEVILLE THEME

Cirez D

Cirez D is house maestro Eric Prydz under his electro/ tech moniker (yes, he of Call On Me fame). This is the fifth release on his underground label Mouseville and every one has been an absolute corker. This is no different and features new mixes of one of his previous hot releases, Knockout.

PLANET 69

Ignition

This is just fun bouncy electro that always manages to fill a floor if it’s a tad empty (which never happens on my shift -¦). This trio’s influences lie heavily in the 80s and this is their second release on Adrift Records. Their first release Love Is War was a bit of a classic and this one looks to follow in its footsteps.

GENITAL BLUE ROOM

Inflagranti

I think this was in Sveta’s Top 5 recently as well so she better not play this at our gigs over the long weekend. Handbags at dawn, girlfriend. These guys are doing some great stuff at the moment. I’m buying everything they do. This one samples an old disco track and just rolls along with heaps of energy and fun. I love it.

OUT THE DOOR (Superdiscount Mix)

Who Made Who

Another artist who is becoming one of my favourites as all their releases are starting to hog my record box. This track is sort of like the meeting of two great artists. Superdiscount have been doing mighty stuff on their self-titled label and this is a great electro-tech re-working of the original.
