No time to be camera-shy
Ever watched a John Waters film and thought you could do better? Now is your chance.
The ALSO Foundation is holding a short film festival as part of its Take Care Out There sexual health project and film buffs and aspiring directors of any skill level are encouraged to make a film.
Entries can be submitted anywhere from 30 seconds to 15 minutes and can detail any aspect of the LGBTI community.
The film festival has been inspired by the Transport Accident Commission’s short film competition. Instead of road safety, however, ALSO hopes the films will raise more awareness of sexual health and relationship issues LGBTI people face.
There’s a first prize of $2500 cash plus $1000 worth of film equipment hire from Open Channel. The second prize winner will receive $500 cash and $500 worth of film equipment hire. The winning film will be screened at festivals, including a special gala screening at the Treasury Theatre on October 4 as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival.
The deadline for submissions has been extended until Friday, September 16, so get those creative juices flowing, grab the closest recording device and get filming.
