Snakes set to strike

The Surry Hills Netball Club — aka the Sydney Snakes — is holding a netball ‘Carnivalesque’ this Sunday, October 24 at the Parklands Sport Centre in Moore Park.

The carnival is a friendly round-robin series of mixed netball games, and it’s a perfect introduction to the sport for people of all shapes, sizes and experience levels.

Open to all, the round robin matches are seven-a-side mixed netball on outdoor, full-sized courts. You can enter your own team or leave it to the Snakes to assign you a team.

The games run from 10am-4pm, and entry fees for competitors are $40 for Snakes, Team Sydney and new Mardi Gras members, $45 for non-members and $280 to enter a full team.

Payments need to be made into the Surry Hills Netball Club before the day — for further registration information, call Tim on 0402 846 804.

Of course, if you don’t feel like competing, you can still come along as a spectator and enjoy cheering on the teams.

The Surry Hills Netball Club, which formed in 2002, is a friendly group of members playing in gay-friendly teams about the inner east and inner west of Sydney.

Even if you can’t make it along to this weekend’s carnival, the Snakes always welcome new players, and meet twice weekly to play fun, social netball.
