This weekend the Gold Coast Pride Collective will be launching their latest initiative: Pride Stride.

In conjunction with Queensland Mental Health Week, the free event will focus on wellbeing and community connection.

And everyone is invited to join in.

Gold Coast Pride Collective launches Pride Stride

Pride Stride is the latest initiative for the Gold Coast Pride Collective, which recently hosted the very successful Gold Coast Pride Fair Day.

This weekend, community members are invited to come together at HOTA, the Home Of The Arts, parklands for a morning of community, connection, conversation and exercise.

“Pride Stride is all about bringing our community together for an easy-going day of movement, connection and conversation” they wrote online.

“Whether you’re someone who loves getting out for a walk, you’re looking for a gentle way to become a little more active, or you simply want an opportunity to meet and connect with other people in the community, you’re welcome to join us.”

“At the heart of the day will be our Pride Stride, with participants invited to walk together through the HOTA Parklands.”

Starting at 11 am the day will involve differing levels of exercise depending on what people feel like doing; this will range from a longer walk through the parklands through to some lighter, less intensive movement exercises.

“There’s no competition, no pressure to keep up and no expectation about your fitness level – the focus is simply on getting together and getting moving.”

Following the Pride Stride, the collective will be offering free refreshments for everyone.

The event is 100% free, but guests are requested to register online here to help track numbers.

Help Support The Gold Coast Pride Collective

The Gold Coast Pride Collective has also released their latest fundraising initiative.

For 2026, they are joining Give Out Day, which is  “Australia’s national giving day for over 100 LGBTQIA+ causes” and is officially marked on October 15th.

The collective has set a fundraising goal of $10,000 to help fund their regular events, including Pride Fair Day and their upcoming Pride Formal.

“GiveOUT Day funds will support Gold Coast Pride Collective’s year-round program of free and accessible events designed to strengthen connection, belonging and wellbeing for LGBTQIA+ people across the Gold Coast” they wrote online.

For those looking to donate they can head to the fundraising page here: https://giveoutday.org.au/o/gold-coast-pride-collective

Support the Star Observer… while you still can

LGBTQIA+ media is under threat. Queer content is censored by tech conglomerates who amplify bigotry and push out AI slop — so we receive less financial support than ever.

When our community is muzzled and intolerance intensifies, we need queer media more than ever. Your donation means we can continue paying queer journalists to write queer news.

Don’t rely on the straight lies of big tech – support Star Observer instead and donate now.
