Stay busy post-Mardi Gras

As the Mardi Gras comes to an end there are also some changes in ACON’s Illawarra office with the departure of Youth Education and Community Development Officer, Andre.

We will all miss him and wish him exciting times as he moves on to the brighter lights of the big smoke. As always the groups Young and Proud and Spectrum Youth will continue during the recruitment of a new team member.

Young and Proud meets fortnightly on Thursdays from 5pm-7pm. Their next meeting will be March 18. For more information on Spectrum Youth (a GLBT youth advocacy group) or Young and Proud (a school-aged GLBT youth group), please contact the Illawarra office on 4226 1163.

Those interested in applying for the position of Community Health Promotion Officer with a youth focus for the Southern Region should keep an eye out on the ACON website in the coming weeks: http://www.acon.org.au/about-acon/jobs

On March 20 we will hold the first of our movie marathons in the new Red Room in the community space. Starting at 9am, this is a chance to relax on the weekend, catch up with friends (during the breaks) and make new connections. This is not a catered event, so please bring some food and drink to share. Enquiries to Trevor on 4226 1163.

ACON Illawarra will have a local launch of the ‘Wear it with Pride’ campaign at the ACON Illawarra Community Space in late March. Speakers launching the campaign will be available to answer questions about the 85 law reforms this campaign seeks to raise awareness about and how these laws will affect you. Stay tuned for more details on the ACON website or call the office on 4226 1163.
