TRANSGENDER ACTIVIST holds lecture

Transgender activist, historian, author and filmmaker Susan Stryker will discuss transgender phenomena at Macquarie University this week. Stryker has researched transgender people and their place in society. Gender is so much a part of our culture that we scarcely know how to recognise the humanity of an individual if we can’t understand him or her as a man or woman, and yet the whole gender system is changing before our very eyes, Stryke says. Looking at transgender phenomena is a way of trying to come to terms with our future as a species. Stryker will give a free lecture, Subjugated Knowledge: Using Foucault To Understand The Emergence Of Transgender Studies, and present an excerpt from her new film Screaming Queens: The Riot At Compton’s Caf?

The lecture will be held at Macquarie University, Building W6A, room 107, on Friday 30 April at 11am. Entry is free.

Support the Star Observer… while you still can

LGBTQIA+ media is under threat. Queer content is censored by tech conglomerates who amplify bigotry and push out AI slop — so we receive less financial support than ever.

When our community is muzzled and intolerance intensifies, we need queer media more than ever. Your donation means we can continue paying queer journalists to write queer news.

Don’t rely on the straight lies of big tech – support Star Observer instead and donate now.
