For the love of breasts

For the love of breasts

If you’re a fan of breasts (no matter the size or shape), you’re in for a treat this autumn.
As the weather gets cooler, the Seymour Centre will be smoking hot with a new Australian musical inspired by breasts. Its name is Breast Wishes and it’s in the full hands of director Jason Langley.
I had a great deal of catching up to do to become familiar with the show’s subject matter, Langley said.
I now know my Cooper’s ligaments from my areola, my padded slings from my clasping flaps and I can speak bra sizes with the best of them.
Actors Valerie Bader, Anne Looby, Chelsea Plumley and Gretel Scarlett are set to address issues of women’s health and bring a positive body image to the stage.
A show about breasts must inevitably touch on the subject of breast cancer. With the incidence of breast cancer on the increase, more and more of us know someone who has been affected by the disease, Langley said.
Composer Bruce Brown will bring a score of original music, with funny yet heartfelt lyrics, to Breast Wishes.
Many of the songs in Breast Wishes are witty, humorous and extremely catchy. You’re certain to be humming one or more of them as you leave the theatre, Langley said.
Others are quite moving and inspiring. Naturally most of the songs are about breasts in one way or another.

info: Breast Wishes opens at The Seymour Centre on Thursday 16 April and runs until Sunday 3 May. Tickets start at $38. Bookings on 9351 7940 or visit seymourcentre.com.au.
