Calling former Choir members

Calling former Choir members

The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Choir is ushering in 2011 – its 20th anniversary season – with a callout for all previous members to rejoin the fold and get involved with the choir again.

Hundreds of people have been a part of the choir during its 20-year history, and everyone is welcome to return for the 20th anniversary ‘Platinum’ retrospective on June 4 at Sydney Town Hall.

A special fee package is available to lapsed members who would like to sing again.

The 2011 season is also, as always, open to new members. Rehearsals for the 20th anniversary season will give a great overview of what the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Choir gets up to, with members having voted on their favourite tunes from each year in the choir’s history.

The repertoire includes a range of the choir’s classics, such as Dancing Queen and True Colours, but also gives a significant place to Australian music which the choir commissioned, plus some moments from the worlds of jazz, opera and folk.

The Choir rehearses from 7-10pm on Thursday nights in Heffron Hall, cnr Burton and Palmer atreets, Darlinghurst. Rehearsals start up on Thursday, January 20.
