Feast on this
Adelaide’s gay and lesbian community arts festival, Feast, is back for 2011 in November.
This year’s theme, Coming Together, attempts to reflect the strong sense of creativity and community the festival engenders. The program will include theatre, cabaret, comedy, visual arts, literature and music, along with queer-themed parties and balls.
“This year Feast will be bigger and better than ever,” creative producer Kerry Ireland said.
“Feast is unique among Aussie pride festivals as it is the only one with a central ‘hub’ acting as festival headquarters. We launched the Hub last year and it was a huge hit.”
The Hub will also host two major performance venues. The Ballroom will be home to some of the festival’s top acts and parties, while the Lounge will provide a relaxed setting for comedy and more intimate shows.
Headline acts include the UK’s Pink Sinatra and local Libby O’Donovan with cabaret performances, the Talking Poofy boys, Tom Ballard and Nath Valvo’s show Fag/Hag holding up the comedy tent, and music from the Rosie Burgess Trio.
The festival will wrap up with the family-friendly Picnic in the Park, and the Picnic After-Party.
The Adelaide Feast Festival runs November 11 – 27.
