Return to the zoo

Return to the zoo

The ALSO Foundation’s Gay Day picnic — which was postponed in December — will be held this Saturday, February 19 from noon at Melbourne Zoo. The event marks a return to ALSO’s roots, with well-attended annual picnics in the late 1970s and 1980s the base upon which the organisation grew.

The picnic will be held on the reptile lawns. Tickets are $27.50 and must be purchased beforehand. Special hampers are available, with funds raised going to the ALSO Care seniors program.

Head down to the zoo this weekend and celebrate. This is a rainbow family-friendly event.

Support the Star Observer… while you still can

LGBTQIA+ media is under threat. Queer content is censored by tech conglomerates who amplify bigotry and push out AI slop — so we receive less financial support than ever.

When our community is muzzled and intolerance intensifies, we need queer media more than ever. Your donation means we can continue paying queer journalists to write queer news.

Don’t rely on the straight lies of big tech – support Star Observer instead and donate now.
