The Turning Point Lesbian Health Strategy launch on International Lesbian Day, 8 October, was a great success in Wollongong. So were our mental health week activities, which happened during the same week this month. We held a meditation class and distributed mental health wellness packs for those dropping into the office on our nominated stress less day.
World AIDS Day is coming up very quickly, and planning for activities like the Memorial and the branch Open Day are underway, so stay tuned for details. We will also need volunteers at events, and especially to sell ribbons in the Mall and at the next UNITY dance. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Michael at ACON.
On a related note, the next UNITY dance party is coming up on Saturday 29 November. Put it in your diaries now so you’re free to come and party the night away. The theme is Red and fundraising for the night will be for World AIDS Day.
Upcoming regional events include the Hume Phoenix dinner and drinks night in Albury on Friday 17 October at the Lounge Cafe. There will be another dinner on Friday 21 November, also starting at 7pm at the same venue.
Hume Phoenix will need volunteers to help run their Albury World AIDS Day stall at the West End Plaza on Thursday 27 November from 9am to 8pm. Hume Phoenix will also be holding a World AIDS Day vigil at the Loft on Saturday 29 November, which will feature a screening of Priscilla.
