Ice Man the latest X-Men to come out as gay

THE X-Men series has had LGBTI characters for a while now, but most have been secondary characters. Until now.

Ice Man/Bobby Drake — one of the original X-Men — has just come out as gay in issue 40 of All-New X-Men, which was leaked online on Wednesday.

The current comic book’s story line sees teenage versions of the the original X-Men characters, including Ice Man, Cyclops, Beast, Angel, and Jean Grey bought to the present time to fight in a “never-ending battle”.

Bobby is outed by the telepathic Jean Grey who confronts him over his thoughts after over flirtatious comments made to his female team mates, as seen below.

The pair talk a little bit about how it’s possible for young Bobby to be gay when his older self apparently isn’t, and then wondering if Angel is gay.

Current out-of-the-closet X-Men include: Anole, Shatterstar, Rictor, Karma, Mystique, Northstar, Daken, Benjamin Deeds, Ultimate Colossus and James Howlett.
