‘It girl’ hair

‘It girl’ hair

Thanks to many scandals, dating one of the world’s hottest supermodels and a great PR team, Ruby Rose has become the ultimate lesbian ‘it girl’ with one of Australia’s most highly desired haircuts. Beauty journalist Sunny Burns caught up with hair stylist Tom Hanley on how to have the Ruby Rose hairdo.

Important Fact: To get Ruby Rose’s look, you need a suitable haircut. She has had her sides cut shorter and the top is longer and textured.

Steps to achieve this look:

Step One: First you need to get some texture in the hair, so I would start by applying a texturising spray — the Fudge Sea Salt Spray is the best.  Apply this to wet hair and then dry in with a hair dryer, making sure you blast the hair in all different directions so you get some volume and movement.

Step Two: Once the hair is dry it is just a matter of styling the top section using a moulding paste. It is best to use a styling product  — Matte Hed by Fudge — that is not greasy as this will leave the hair looking wet.

Step Three: Apply a small amount of product to the tips of your fingers and work through the mid-lengths to ends of your hair. If the sides and back of your hair are too long or do not look smooth like Ruby’s, I would apply more product to my fingers and softly flatten or smooth down the sides.

Step Four: Once finished, it is important to use a finishing spray so the style holds. Membrane Gas by Fudge is perfect for this.
