Facebook updates status
It appears social networking site Facebook is moving with the times, adding ‘civil unions’ and ‘domestic partnerships’ to the list of relationship status options.
It’s understood the new fields are being added in Australia, the US, France, Canada and the UK from today.
Facebook’s Andrew Noyes said the change has been made as a result of the high number of requests from users to add the two options.
The Huffington Post today reported the change was made in consultation with Facebook’s Network of Support which includes the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network, and the Human Rights Campaign as members.
