Gold and silver for Frontrunner

Gold and silver for Frontrunner

Sydney Frontrunner Matt Webster won silver in a challenging 800m race at the World Masters Games yesterday – in his first attempt at track racing.

Making the finals was a great result in itself, but Matt took up the challenge and steamed around the the track and in the final straight passed three other runners to win the silver behind a former national champion.

He then packed his gear and drove from Homebush to the Parramatta park course to compete in the 8K cross country.

Still tired after his 800m race Matt achieved a remarkable first place in 27m 42s. Two outstanding results in one day.

And there is more to come as Matt takes on the relays with three other Frontrunners in the 4X400m race which is the final event of the track and field meet.

  1. Let’s get a handle on this amazing performance; Matt completed a series of events in the following times:
    800 m track: 2nd in 2:00:72
    1500 m track: 1st in 4:17:84
    5000 m track: 1st in 16:26
    8 km cross country: 1st in 27:42
    4 x 400m relay: team placed 6th.

Next time you head out for a run; casually flick your watch or phone to the stopwatch function. When you get home from your 5kms about 35 – 40 minutes later, get online and let Matt know we appreciate this sensational effort.
Not in one event; but in a series of them.

It is nice to know you can catch up with Matt and any Saturday at Centennial Park about 9.00 as they head out for a jog, or at 10.00 for coffees at the Lachlan Swamp Coffee Van.

If it is time you started an exercise program on a regular basis, runners, walkers and joggers of every level enjoy this social setting every week. Our furkids would be devastated missing a week of their training program with mum & dad.

  2. Congratulations Matt,

Your individual performance on th back of your recent Triathlon performance at the Worlds establishes you as a track champion and a fantastic role model in the gay community.

Being such a nice guy at the weekly Frontrunners run in Centennial Park keeps reminding me that you are a down to earth champion who can relate to others at all levels.

Love your work! Eat up the competition in the relays!
