Jewish lesbian film needs funding

Local Jewish lesbians need financial support to make a short film celebrating their support group’s work over the past two decades.

The Jewish Lesbian Group of Victoria needs more than $5,000 before October 17 to fund its proposed short, It’s Who We Are.

The first Jewish group to march in Melbourne’s Pride march and Sydney’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, the organisation began in 1992 and has provided a social and support network for Jewish lesbians throughout the state.

The group is using crowd-funding website Pozible to raise a total of $10,000 for the proposed 30-minute film.

It will feature interviews with the group’s members and highlight their achievements.

The group said they’d be distributing the film to Jewish, LGBTI and other film festivals in Australia and overseas.

LGBTQIA+ media is under threat. Queer content is censored by tech conglomerates who amplify bigotry and push out AI slop — so we receive less financial support than ever.

When our community is muzzled and intolerance intensifies, we need queer media more than ever. Your donation means we can continue paying queer journalists to write queer news.

Don’t rely on the straight lies of big tech – support Star Observer instead and donate now.
