La Trobe celebrates diversity

Melbourne’s La Trobe University will fly the rainbow flag this week as part of the university’s Pride Week 2012.

For three days, the mini-festival will hold ‘the Great Debate’, a movie night and live music. JOY 94.9 will broadcast from the festival and there will be stalls from support, social and sporting organisations.

“We will also use Pride Week to showcase the range of queer programs provided by LTU Counselling Services to support GLBTIQ students, including queer counselling; the ‘Queer Chat’ facilitated support group; and the ‘Queer Peers’ mentoring program,” queer counsellor Devorah Wynn said.

“Although the three days will have a ‘queer’ focus, the event is inclusive of all La Trobe students and staff and we welcome you to come along and enjoy the festivities.”

La Trobe University’s Pride Week 2012 runs March 22 – 24 at the Melbourne campus.
