Cate Blanchett throws her support behind the Yes campaign

The Equality Campaign has welcomed a video from Australian acting icon Cate Blanchett reminding Australians of the importance of voting Yes for marriage equality.

As the campaigns draw to a close, activists are reminding Australians intending to vote Yes to mail their survey without delay.

“Love is love, whatever colour, shape and persuasion it comes in,” says Blanchett in the video.

Blanchett’s video is the latest in a range of Australian performers encouraging people to vote Yes for equality and fairness.

Equality Campaign spokesperson Anna Brown said, “Time is running out for Australians to return their survey forms. To make sure we achieve a strong result, we are urging people to post their Yes votes back by this Friday 27 October.

“It is great to see so many Australians wanting to be a part of this positive and respectful discussion. The diversity of supporters reflects the many conversations happening over dinner tables and desks across the country.”

The Equality Campaign is encouraging Australians to remind their friends, families, colleagues and teammates to make sure their vote is counted by posting their surveys back before tomorrow’s deadline.

The survey officially closes on November 7, with results to be announced the following week.
