Arrest 17 years after Oxford St murder
The man has been arrested for the 1991 murder of 27-year-old Felipe Flores, last seen leaving the Exchange Hotel.
Unsolved Homicide Team detectives made the arrest in Launceston last night with the assistance of Tasmanian Police, and will today seek his extradition to NSW.
Flores’s body was found in the Domain in the early hours of 2 September 1991. He had sustained severe head injuries and was only partially clothed.
NSW Police said he was last seen several hours earlier leaving the Exchange Hotel on Oxford St.
The 45-year-old suspect was last night interviewed and charged with an arrest warrant for the offence of murder.
He’s been refused bail, to appear at Launceston Magistrates Court today, where NSW detectives will make an application for his extradition to Sydney.
