Benstix playing for gold

Sydney’s Bentstix hockey team is into the gold medal round at the Gay Games in Cologne.

GAME 1: Sydney Bentstix vs London Royals (2)

Bentstix were expecting to walk all over this team but like most hockey teams in Cologne they are fired up when playing the Aussies.

The glory of beating the Aussies is rare and they had a good go at it. At the end of the first half scores were locked at 0-0. The pressure valve was relieved in the second half when Bentstix scored the only goal of the game.

GAME 2:  Sydney  Bentstix vs Holland (2)

Bentstix went forward early in the first half to be up 1-0.

The second half was much more frenetic and the Dutch team fought back after two more Bentstix goals to be 3-1 down.

And in a final flurry, much to the pleasure of the mainly Dutch crowd, scores finished at 4-2 for Bentstix.

he Dutch team gave Bentstix a good run for their money.

Bentstix remains the only team undefeated after the round robin matches and sits at the top of the table. Bentstix will now play off for the Gay Games gold medal on Friday August 6 at 5pm. They will play either Holland (1) or the London Royals (1).
