BGF’s winter warmer

The Bobby Goldsmith Foundation’s (BGF) Winter Appeal is in need of donations. The appeal is a vital component of the charity’s fundraising program. During the colder months, the amount BGF gives to clients for their electricity and gas bills alone can increase by up to 45 percent.

The Winter Appeal is one of our two annual fundraising appeals. As 2009 marks our 25th anniversary, we’ve decided to integrate that into our Winter Appeal campaign, BGF’s chief executive officer Bev Lange said.

This year’s Winter Appeal direct mailing pack shares the story of a client called Andrew and his struggle with HIV, reminding people of Bobby Goldsmith’s story and why the charity was established.

Together, it makes a compelling story that will encourage people to donate to BGF, Lange said.

All the money raised in the Winter Appeal will be allocated to our client services programs. BGF is hoping to raise $50,000.

Our client programs are dependent on the money we raise through fundraising activities like the Winter Appeal. Without the help of our community supporters, we can’t continue our work helping people living in poverty with HIV.

All of our work helps clients regain control of their lives. As one of our caseworkers said recently, -˜We can make the difference between hope and hopelessness… it can be that fine a line’.
