This is Freemasons (a.k.a. James Wiltshire and Russell Small) on their newly conceived imprint Freemaison. The Latin-tinged piano riff and some incredibly strong feel-good strings turn this tune into a nostalgic floor-filler. Fat funky house the way it should be. Gold!

Young Rebels vs Dennis & Jerry

Huge track for me, this one. Been in my box for over a year now and it’s showing no sign of leaving. With feel-good piano and driven beats, the dancefloor always accelerates when I drop this tune. Great spacey midway break with echo-like piano, leaving plenty of room for a cappella overlays.

The Cyclone Rangers

Tall Paul goes under disguise. Was released on a White Label but it’s sure to be signed soon. Starts with an intro proclaiming: Back to the old skool, and that’s exactly what it does. Funky vocal house with unlimited energy.

FLASHBACK (Groovehunter Slammin’ Remix)

Nathan G

Homegrown tunes from Melbourne-based Nathan G, released on Vinyl Pusher with a dark electro feel to it. It has a bass line to kill for and some serious funk in there, and diva-style vocals. Flashback -¦ get your fix.

GREEN MANGO (Congaman Remix)

The Afronauts

Released on Fragile Records, this track has it all. Deep, dirty, searching bass lines, breaking into conga madness before a killer piano riff and some beautiful melancholy strings hit. Tune!
