Mardi Gras heads to Luna Park

Crossing the bridge is not something a lot of Mardi Gras partygoers factor into their biggest weekend of the year.

But next year there’ll be a great excuse -“ the official Mardi Gras after-party is happening at one of Sydney’s most iconic venues, Luna Park.

New Mardi Gras has teamed up with the funsters behind the Toybox parties to present a day of big fun and lots of fancy.

Co-chair Steph Sands says she can’t wait to see thousands of locals and out-of-towners living it up in the fantastic Milsons Point surrounds.

By continuing on from our party with the official after-party at Luna Park, we’re providing a unique experience for our local communities and for people visiting the city in March, Sands said.

Sands said the stunning harbour views coupled with a unique party environment would make next year’s Mardi Gras season end with a bang. And fellow co-chair Mark Orr said it would be a party not to be missed.

Since its launch in 2003 Toybox has quickly established itself as one of the hottest events around on Sydney’s queer party circuit.

Toybox’s day parties have become famous for their over-the-top decorations, lighting and atmosphere. They regularly sell out The Metro in George Street weeks in advance.

The Toybox after-party party will be part of the official Mardi Gras festival. All Luna Park rides will be free to Toybox early arrivals.

Some of the funds from ticket sales will be donated to New Mardi Gras.

Shuttle buses will run from Fox Studios and Taylor Square to take partygoers to and from Luna Park.

The party will be held on Sunday 6 March from noon until 8pm. Tickets will go on sale from 2 December.
