Politician and religious campaigner Fred Nile collapsed outside of the Channel 10 Sydney studio after giving a speech to Christian protesters.

The 88-year-old member of the New South Wale Legislative Council had joined protesters, which included the Christian Lives Matter group, as they rallied against the controversial joke about Jesus that was aired on the Project.

The reverend gave a short speech before passing the microphone to his wife, Silvana gave a longer speech that called upon all Christians in Australia to stand up for their rights.

However, shortly after Nile collapsed and was taken away on a stretcher from where the protestors had gathered.

The Christian Live Matter group had led a prayer outside of the Channel 10 office before the reverend collapsed.

Who is Fred Nile?

Nile had announced earlier this year that he intended to step down from parliament.

During his tenue, he famously stood for Christian values and was against decriminilising abortions and reforms on same-sex marriage.

He was also known for praying for rain ahead of Mardi Gras every year.

The Joke That Sparked It All

What sparked the protests outside of the network’s office was the controversial joke made by queer comic Reuben Kaye.

Kaye spoke on the Project about the hate he is subjected to because of his sexuality and for dressing up in drag – mostly from the Christian community – when he made the Jesus remark.

“I love Jesus, I love any man who can get nailed for three days straight and come back for more,” he said live on air.

Sarah Harris had burst into laughter while Waleed Aly was left stunned. The following night, the pair were forced to apologise for the incident.

“During a live interview last night, our guest told a joke which we know was deeply and needlessly offensive to many of you,” Ali said.

“We want to acknowledge the particular offence and hurt that it caused our Muslim and especially our Christian viewers. Obviously, I understand how profound that offence was.”

  1. Well Well Dear Freddie, appears to have been struck down by the Hand of God. Such a revelation that Ruben’s, snappy supremely sassy smart ass joke, summerising his life experience. That would be overly compensated so fast, the next day, with this apology faster than any kind of foul comment uttered by smug homophobia of the past.
Finally after so many years & decades of open discrimination couresty of Fred Nile, not only towards LGBTQAI+ community. He was the sort that used to also try to petition governments to prevent [BANN] notable bands & performers coming to Australia. Pretty sure Madonna would have been one. He definitely tried this with KISS. No doubt even ABBA {I would hope so, don’t wanna imagine him “diggin'” them either} would have been in his sights. It isn’t usually very nice or right to sound so cheerful, following someone suffering in severe health, but it is a rare comeuppance for our community. With brilliant comical irony in this case. If he recovers, he & his sort will not doubt find a way to blame us for it all, without any reflection on his ill will, coming back to catch up with him!

  2. I am actually pleased that Fred is wearing a pink triangle on his top pocket. I knew he would turn that other cheek!

  3. Interesting that Fred, or anyone of his age is allowed to keep on warming a seat in that Retirement Village for politicians the Upper House of the NSW Parliament. Maybe it is now time that politicians – no matter their Party or political views – should be required to retire like the rest of us at 67? Why should these men and women be allowed to do what is denied to the rest of us?
The Jesus joke was funny! Did you hear about how Mary was taking he son to be baptised Garry, when she stubbed her toe?
What gets me about these self-styled “Good Christian Women and Men” (I used to be a Christian, but a naughty one!) is that they still believe that Jesus was a White, Blue-eyed, Blond when in fact he would have been a swarthy, dark-skinned man with beautiful dark brown eyes and black hair!
But then as we all know, you can fool some of the people all the time!
So much for the alleged teachings of this Jesus fellow! Love? They don’t know the meaning of the word! Compassion? they have absolutely no idea what that word means and they never will have!
BNigots? The whole bloody lot of them. Racists? That too.

  4. I love how the protesters are holding posters of caucasian Jesus. Not only are they going against the bibles teachings of love one another and turn the other cheek but they are mischaracterising his image. They are so hypocritical that they are nothing but a joke to the religion they claim to follow.
