Minus 18 founder dies

Long-time community volunteer Colin Billing died last week.Billing was heavily involved with the gay community throughout his life, including work with the ALSO Foundation for over 10 years and a long stint as a volunteer with the Australian Lesbian and Gay Archives.
Billing was widely known as the founder of Minus 18, the underage dance events for same-sex attracted youth.
Although he left the organisation under controversial circumstances, Billing was convenor for three years and involved in many Minus 18 events. More recently, Billing volunteered with the Lesbian and Gay Archives. President Graham Willett said Billing was dedicated to preserving the community’s past.
-œHe saw the importance of our history, particularly audio visual history… he would often be seen at events with a camera documenting things which he would donate to the archives, so we were certainly appreciative of that.
Southern Star understands Billing passed away from natural causes.
