Pride comes to Townsville
Townsville’s first gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Pride festival will take place from September 17-19.
The three-day event has been organised by the local GLBT Anti-Violence Committee and aims to celebrate the region’s close-knit community and supporters.
Festivities begin with an awards night on Friday, September 17 honouring GLBT-friendly individuals, businesses and organisations. A movie night and Pride dance party are scheduled for the Saturday, while the festival winds up with a Fair Day on Sunday, September 19. Stalls, information stands, a charity auction and dog show are some of the entertainment on offer.
If things go well, organisers hope Townsville Pride will become an annual event.
