Pride of Tasmania

Pride of Tasmania

Tasmania’s arts and cultural celebration for the GLBTIQ community comes to a close this weekend after a fantastic run of events.

Southern Star Observer was in town for the halfway mark of the festival, taking in some of the great offerings from the film festival – a partnership with Queerscreen – and joining in on activities such as the Ride with Pride cycling event along the harbour, amongst the jam-packed weekend.

Organisers lucked out with mostly perfect weather, and local GLBTIQ venues such as Flamingos and Les Girls put on a big party for Saturday night revellers. Les Girls in particular proved popular with locals and interstate guests as the drag venue celebrated its second birthday.

Melbourne showgirls Priscilla and Dolly Diamond were on hand to help out with entertainment in Hobart.

Priscilla joined the Les Girls entertainment line-up whilst Dolly Diamond had participants of TasPride Queer Quiz night in stitches with her hilarious hosting performance.

On the agenda this final weekend is the TasPride Family Picnic at Sandy Bay on Sunday, November 14 and the closing night party at Flamingos the night prior.
