Tune in to Mardi Gras

Tune in to Mardi Gras

Keeping its finger on the pulse of Sydney’s gay and lesbian Mardi Gras parade this weekend, community radio station JOY 94.9FM will bring all the action from Oxford St into homes across the nation.

Sit back with a cuppa and tune in on Saturday, February 27 from 7pm – 11pm to hear all the colour and spectacle from the streets and interviews with porn star Brent Corrigan and Mardi Gras chief of parade Amanda Lepore.

The JOY crew will provide four-hour commentary with anchors Tim Newton, Ben McCormack (The Spin), Sue Wilkinson (Hear Me Raw) and Lauren Christopher (Transmission Time).

“This broadcast is important because it brings together two of the largest gay and lesbian organisations in Australia, JOY94.9 and New Mardi Gras,” JOY general manager Danae Gibson said.

“It is as much about presenting the event to people at home as it is about celebrating our diversity as a community and providing a cultural perspective to Mardi Gras.”

The broadcast involves cooperation with Sydney community station 2SER FM and the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia.

The JOY broadcast can be streamed online.
