Pollys party for Mardi Gras
Get your dancing shoes, retro outfits and party glasses ready for the Pollys 2012 Mardi Gras Parade and Party, to be held on Saturday, February 25 at Marrickville Town Hall.
Carol, Sue-Ellen and the Pollys Cast have promised a fun-filled evening with snacks, bar and BYO available.
Doors open at 7pm, with the show and parade starting at 9.30pm. Tickets are $20 or $15 for concession.
The Pollys Club organising committee is no stranger to entertaining, with fun-filled parties going back to the club’s beginning in 1964 with social functions held in ‘private halls’.
Despite homosexuality being illegal at the time, the authorities turned a blind eye to their activities. The club has since raised tens of thousands of dollars for charity and has run hundreds of social events such as drag shows, harbour cruises, and the poly-lympics.
