Safe schools reaches 100

Glen Eira College and Elwood College were the 100th and 101st schools to join Safe Schools Coalition Victoria to make their schools more welcoming for same-sex attracted students.

The two schools joined the coalition on the same day and was announced at the Same-Sex Formal held earlier this month.

Since 2010, the coalition has worked with more than 2,500 school staff and thousands of students.

Roz Ward, SSCV co-founder and co-ordinator said it was very exciting to welcome their 100th school to the coalition.

“It is very exciting to welcome our 100th school to the coalition. When we launched back in 2010 nobody quite knew just how popular the coalition would become,” she said.

“We have received so much positive feedback; we just know this making a difference to students all across Victoria, and in all different kinds of schools.”
