Convicts move up a grade

The Sydney Convicts have reached the grand final of Suburban Rugby Union, the first time they have made the third grade competition.

The Convicts remain the only gay and inclusive team in the world to have won their local competition, winning the Halligan Cup in 2005 and 2006. The Convicts B side, which won the Bingham Bowl in Manchester, side finished its season in the top five in the Halligan Cup in 2012.

The NSW Suburban Rugby Union Nicholson Cup final will be held this Saturday at Macquarie University Sports Grounds in North Ryde.

Convicts president Dave Whittaker said it was it was a great outcome following on from the groups success in the Bingham Cup in Manchester this year.

Kick off is 10.30am.
