Planning for Rainbow Festival

Planning for this year’s Rainbow Festival is underway and you can be involved! Rainbow Visions invites community members to a consultation on June 1, 6.30pm upstairs at the Gateway Hotel, to find out what you would like at the festival and how you can be involved.

PFLAG is a peer support group for parents, family and friends of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. The next Newcastle PFLAG meeting in on Saturday, June 4, 1.30pm at ACON, 129 Maitland Rd, Islington. All parents, friends and family are welcome.

Out N Hastings are hosting an ’80s-themed dance on June 4 at Pier One, Panthers Club, Port Macquarie, 7pm—midnight. For more information, contact 0419 030 988.

Men’s Health Week is happening June 13 – 19. The Hunter Gay Network is hosting a men’s picnic, Sunday, June 19, 11.30am, King Edward Park. All gay, bisexual, transgender men, their friends and families are welcome. BYO picnic food, rug, games such as frisbee, cricket, soccer, kites.

The men’s picnic will also see the launch of Drama Down Under, a campaign reminding men to get a sexual health check. Sign up at www.thedramadownunder.info for an SMS or email reminder. You can also drop into ACON on Thursdays from 1pm for a free and confidential check.

Linking Lesbians In Newcastle (LLINC) have social pool every Sunday from 6pm, Mayfield Hotel, Maitland Rd, Mayfield.

Rainbow Visions host Mixed Froots on the last Friday of each month from 5.30pm at Boulevarde on Beaumont, Hamilton. There is a gold coin donation to cover the finger food.

ACON Hunter has two new community computers available for use 9am–5pm, Monday – Friday. Use them to access email, the internet, word processing, assignments, job applications, etc.
