Say Something with us

Say Something with us

Every year, Rainbow Babies and Kids comes together to march for Mardi Gras. Members, their families and friends gather to celebrate and show the world we are here and we are proud. It is an exciting and inspiring event that leaves you feeling elated and full of love.

We are very excited about the theme for 2011, Say Something! We have a real opportunity to raise awareness of our community and in doing so, celebrate who we are. We are parents with hopes and aspirations for our children, and our kids are just like any other child in their hope and dreams. We want the best for them, and we want to be treated with equality and respect. Say Something gives us the opportunity to combine political and individual voices in our messages.

Previous parades have been highly successful and enjoyable events. The support we receive is amazing, which makes the whole event worthwhile. Logistically, we gratefully receive special consideration regarding the time we are required to enter the marshalling area, which is later than other entrants, meaning no excessive waiting times for the kids.

The kids have a ball. It is so exciting, there is so much going on that any waiting is actually fun. They dress up, they gawk at the marvellous costumes around them, they run, they dance, they blow bubbles, draw messages on the road with chalk, it is the best.

I haven’t seen a child lose it yet and even the smallest of toddlers manage to walk the parade. Any concerns you have about your child not coping don’t apply in such an exciting environment. And the crowd loves them!

If you want to get involved and show your support for Rainbow Babies and Kids, come and march with us. You won’t regret it.
